SZ podcast “To the Point”: How the AfD wants to get into government

Following an AfD retreat in early July, the English-language newspaper Politico published content from a strategy paper by Beatrix von Storch, the AfD's deputy parliamentary group leader. The Süddeutsche Zeitung also has access to the paper.
It clearly shows how the AfD intends to win over new voter groups and tear down the firewall before the upcoming federal election . Roland Preuß, AfD expert in the Süddeutsche Zeitung's parliamentary bureau, discusses in this episode exactly what strategy the AfD is pursuing and how successful it can be. He says the AfD wants to further the split between the CDU/CSU and the other parliamentary parties in order to remain as its sole coalition partner. With the other parties, the AfD will then seek to establish a clear demarcation.
